RUSS Penn had contrasting emotions when reflecting on his team’s defeat to York City at the weekend.

The Reds suffered their first defeat under the permanent management of Penn, a 1-0 set-back on a fairly even afternoon.
The only goal of the game came as a result of a lapse in concentration at the start of the second half, an otherwise impressive debutant Alex Penny nodding the ball into the path of goalscorer, Dan Maguire.
That aside, Harriers more than matched the team who went on to re-take top spot in National League North, with neither side truly breaking the other down at any other point.
Speaking after the game, Penn lamented the switch-off that proved costly, but insisted he didn’t fee his team deserved to be on the losing end come the end of the contest.
“There were two good teams out there, I thought: two solid teams,” he reflected.

“I said at half time that the team who makes the mistake will the game and, unfortunately for us, it was our mistake.
“I thought he had a really good debut and he’ll a very, very good player for us going forward.
“It’s the concentration thing when you come out at half time, and it has always been the same; you have 15 minutes sat down and clear your head, and within 30 seconds you’re 1-0 down.
“Overall, I thought we were defensively sound and didn’t look like conceding but, on the flipside, I don’t think we were good enough going forward.
“I’m not going to sit here and say we deserved to win the game, I just don’t think we deserved to lose it, either.”
Harriers are next in action when Guiseley come to Aggborough on Saturday, 29 February at 3:00pm.
