EMEKA Obi says he’s looking forward to finally playing for Harriers fans rather than against them.
The towering central defender put pen to paper on a deal to become Adam Murray’s latest summer signing earlier this week.
The former AFC Fylde powerhouse won National League North under Murray’s management as part of a lengthy stay at Mill Farm.
In that time, Harriers and the Coasters locked horns many a time – the passion of the Aggborough fanbase leaving a lasting impression on his mind.
He explained: “It’s always been a tough game against Kidderminster!
“I’ve played here, I know how passionate the fans are and that made my decision easier – being able to finally play for them was a big factor.
“I’m a ball player and aggressive, and am good in our box and the opposition’s box so they’ll see me being loud on the pitch and demanding things from my team mates, that’s just how my game is.
The pull Murray and the chance to reunite with his former gaffer was a big pull, too.
“I’m pleased to be here,” he went on. “I know how big a club this is, so it’s made me excited to join.
“I spoke to the gaffer, and he made it a very easy choice to come here.
“His time at Fylde with me was vital because I was playing under him and learning a lot from him.
“When he called me, I felt like it was an easy decision as we have a good relationship and hopefully, we can bring that here.”
Having been roughed up by the rigors of non-league football from the age of 20 has left the former Wigan starlet well rounded in terms of experience.
He knows, then, what to expect when 2025-26 gets underway.
Obi added: “I joined Fylde when I was 20 and that was in National League North and that was very up and down!
“I’ve learned a lot, and I feel like I can bring a lot of my experience to the club.
“I’m here to do a job and hopefully I can bring something to the team and learn from the others here, too.
“The game and the division is getting tougher now and you need to be able to adapt.”
