Harriers have bagged the services of vastly experienced striker Tobi Sho-Silva.
Toby joins us having spent the last two seasons in the National League with Maidenhead.
The 30-yeear-old is a tried and tested promotion winner having won that division with Sutton United in 2021, his form there earning him a move to the EFL with Carlisle United.
The marksman was part of the Carlisle side that clinched promotion from League 2 to League 1 in 2023, with his other National League experience coming with spells at Bromley, FC Halifax and Dover among others.
Now, he brings his substantial National League experience to Aggborough to improve the club’s big to reach Step 1 once again, subject to FA and National League confirmation.
Boss Adam Murray explained of Sho-Silva’s arrival: “Everybody's looking for centre forwards this season, and that's probably why it took it took a little bit of time to bring another number nine in because they are sparse.
“We wanted an established number nine. We could have gone out and took maybe a young guy from an academy that that hadn't been out and been tested, but we wanted someone that, had been successful, that had won promotions, that that knew what the level is about.
“It took a little bit of time because obviously Toby's played higher than this level for a long time, so to get him to come to drop to this level was a big ask for him, but he bought into the project, he wanted to be part of what we're looking to do.
“We feel his attributes can really help the group. I do feel dropping down a level will be able to get more goals out of him in the way, in the style that we play. But he brings a mentality of winning, he understands what promotion looks like, so that's a big factor and probably why we went for a more established player.”
Murray, who further bolstered his squad’s attacking ranks with the acquisition of Jason Adigun earlier on Tuesday, added of Sho-Silva: “He had offers in the league above at the last minute, and he turned them down to come to us and he's willing to relocate to the area with his wife to really buy into the project.
“All those little things go a long way because when someone's so committed to what you're doing you know that they want to make it a success as well.”
