Gilbert “Gil” Brookes was a goalkeeper who represented Harriers either side of spells elsewhere.
The son of former Harriers player Joe Brookes, he was born in Kidderminster and appeared for the club before moving to Shrewsbury Town and then Stoke City.
Brookes ventured to Swansea Town, Luton Town and Merthyr Town, and later returned to Aggborough and was part of the Harriers side during the later 1920s.
Away from football, he followed his father as landlord of the Sportsman Inn in Wood Street.
