Tom 'Tommy' Hunter was an influential player, manager and chairman during the earliest decades of Harriers’ footballing history.
Born in 1863, Hunter played for Wolverhampton Wanderers in the 1888 FA Cup Final before moving to Kidderminster Olympic, where he became captain. He subsequently represented the amalgamated Kidderminster side during the 1890-91 season.
Following the collapse of that club, Hunter was the only professional engaged by the reformed Harriers. He became the club’s first player-manager ahead of the 1891-92 campaign and later served as chairman.
Hunter was also a prominent local businessman and publican. He died during the influenza epidemic of 1918 at the age of 55.
