Hemmings relishing Murray link

ASHLEY Hemmings says being reunited with Adam Murray was a major factor in his return to Harriers, with the forward describing their long-standing working relationship as a natural fit.
Hemmings, who previously worked with Murray at Mansfield and Boston where Murray was boss, explained that the manager’s approach and demands have always brought the best out of him.
The pair were due to continue that relationship here this season prior to the player’s move to Dagenham – it’s now something he’s looking forward to now he’s back.
“I've played with him at Mansfield and Boston,” he explained. I like the way he gets the team going, what he does on the training pitch and what he wants from me.
“We've always had good chemistry between us. The thing now is that I just want to come back and show everyone that I can still do it.”
Hemmings rejoined training for the first time this week and said it immediately reinforced his belief that Harriers can challenge strongly in National League North this season.
He added: “With training today, I can see the boys have got it. They want to push forward and go in the right direction.
“Everyone’s listening to the gaffer and taking everything in, and that has to keep going consistently. We know what the league’s about.
“We came close last year, but now I think we can go that one step closer. I’m coming back to help push and see if we can get there.”
It would be a mammoth understatement to say he forward was a fans’ favourite during his previous spell at Aggborough. Hemmings says that returning to an environment where he is happy will allow him to produce his best once again.
“That’s the thing with me,” he added. “I’ve got to be happy, and when I’m happy the best comes out. At Kiddy I’ve had great moments and great times, and I want to continue that now.”
