With their names still etched into the minds of many Harriers supporters some 30 years after their Aggborough careers ended, there's little doubt the Wassall brothers were two of Harriers' best ever players.
It is impossible to overstate the importance of this duo in the club's history - with more than 1,300 appearances and 700 goals between them, they dominated for the 1960s and much of the 1970s.
First to arrive at the club was midfield marshal Brendan, who joined in October 1962 from Atherstone United at the age of 20, his debut coming a month later. A special footballer with an eye for controlling the centre of the park, Brendan was arguably one of the greatest goalscoring midfielders ever known. His consistent tally of around 26 goals each and every season for over a decade is never likely to be equaled.
He was, naturally, a former Harriers' Captain and after leaving Aggborough in April 1975 after making 686 appearances, he spent a season with Bromsgrove Rovers before taking the decision to hang up his boots in 1975. Brendan remains local, living in Halesowen.
Around a year into Brendan's career at Harriers, however, he mentioned to then club Secretary Ted Gamson that his younger brother Peter was quite the promising prospect and was looking for somewhere to ply his trade after Youth spells with the likes of Wolves and Aston Villa.
Peter signed on at Aggborough prior to the 1963-64 term and after spending his first campaign at what was then the right-half position, he made the switch to a forward role after performing well in the reserves. Never truer has it been that the rest, they say, is history.
Fiercely prolific in front of goal, Peter fired in some 433 goals as a Kidderminster Harriers player in just 621 games - a breathtaking ratio of over a goal every other game for more than ten years. You could only imagine what any club would do for a player of such form in this day and age.
Perhaps his goal scoring highlight game in something of a purple-patch season in which he struck a devastating 67 times alone in the Championship winning term of 1968-69 - smashing the previous record of its kind by some way.
Peter left the club in 1972 for a short spell with Hereford United, who paid Harriers a then record £3,000 fee for his services. He was soon back at Aggborough to finish his career, though, and notched the final of his 433 goals with a brace against Worcester in October 1974.
Tragically he died after suffering a severe heart attack in 1988, but passed away firmly holding the most impressive scoring record in KHFC's long and proud history.
