HARRIERS Women suffered a narrow 2-1 defeat away to Northampton Town on Sunday, leaving them tenth in the league table, writes Milja Stevenson.
The hosts started the game on the front foot and took the lead in the 11th minute as a Snape free kick from 25 yards out found its way into the back of the net.
Harriers responded well to going behind and were level just seven minutes later. Mill Rogers scored her first goal since returning to the club, curling a superb effort from the edge of the box into the top corner to make it 1-1.
The rest of the first half was a real battle, with chances at both ends. Northampton began to apply more pressure, but Harriers were able to withstand it to go into the break level.
The second half saw a much-improved performance from Harriers, but it was Northampton who took the lead on the hour mark, with Noble firing the hosts ahead.
Both sides continued to create chances, and Harriers thought they had the equaliser in the 76th minute. Seanna McCann’s free kick from the edge of the area struck the crossbar, with Hollie Congrave reacting quickest to turn home the rebound. However, after a lengthy discussion between the referee and linesman, the goal was ruled out for offside.
Northampton were able to see out the remainder of the game to condemn Harriers to defeat.
