ADAM Murray hailed the contributions of Richard Faakye and Josh Robinson in Friday’s win over Hereford.
Faakye has been an emerging presence in the Harriers side since his arrival in February.
The defender is in his first season in senior football having progressed through the ranks at Swansea City – his only other taste of action before arriving at Aggborough being at Peterborough Sports earlier this term.
Robinson, meanwhile, spent almost a decade in the Arsenal Academy and gained plenty of experience at that level before his move to Wigan Athletic.
He departed the Latics without a first team start, meaning the two starts he’s now made for Harriers are his first appearances in senior men’s football – making his contribution all the more impressive, including assists for both Harriers goals against the Bulls.
Their introductions to the squad come amid the loss of Joe Foulkes, Christian Dibble and Paul Kalambayi in recent weeks – significant disruption to a back line in which the trio had been almost ever-present.
The efforts of Robinson and Faakye have not been lost on Murray, who reflected after the 2-1 victory on Friday: “I'm hoping today settles the boys down a little bit and makes them believe again how good they are.
“Yes, like we've said in the last couple of interviews, we have lost massive players, but I thought people like Josh today; the kid's not played football in a year.
“That was his only second men's appearance, or start - he's never played men's football before and to put a performance in like that – wow.
“We’ve got a young centre back in Richard that it's his first season in men's football again, wow, so it's a credit to them young boys today, because they went out with a massive spine and to stay in there - and then the old man popped up with a winner!”
Harriers keep their campaign going with the journey to AFC Telford on Monday afternoon.
