HARRIERS return to Aggborough to host Eastleigh in the National League on Saturday, and boss Paul Wotton is ready to go. The gaffer has been encouraged by the reaction of his players during a productive week on the training ground. Wotton explained that last weekend’s defeat at Hornchurch had been addressed thoroughly within the group but is determined not to allow one difficult afternoon to overshadow the work taking place within his new-look squad. “It wasn’t the result or the performance we wanted, so it’s been and gone,” he said. “We addressed it after the game, we addressed it on Monday and Tuesday and we’ve addressed it today as well, so there’s a line drawn through it. “I know exactly where it went wrong and what we can improve upon, and I’m sure we will improve for Saturday.”

Reflecting on the week’s work, the boss went on: “The players have been exceptional this week. “They’ve been exceptional on the training ground and they’ve responded positively. It [Hornchurch] was a one-off and it happens, but when it happens in the first game of the season, it feels worse. “We had a long video session on Monday and there’s no hiding place on the video… It was a very positive meeting. Nobody fell out with anybody, and it wasn’t a slanging match. It was a learning process, and their attitude has been first-class in training this week.”

A ball retriever’s job is simple – their instructions are to retrieve balls that have left the field of play and to place them back on cones at pitch side. Players, not retrievers, collect the ball from the cone. Our young ball retrievers are following official rules – please show them the respect and encouragement they deserve. LIMITED CAR PARKING Car Parking spaces at Aggborough are, as ever, extremely limited. Please, where you can, travel to the game without needing to park to avoid disappointment or disruption. Please also park with consideration of our local residents. Please also be aware that roadworks and temporary traffic lights on Hoo Road (from Station Hill) may cause a slight delay to our journey. NO SMOKING Aggborough Stadium is a strictly no smoking venue – this means smoking, including the use of vapes and e-cigarettes, is prohibited anywhere within the stadium.
