Kidderminster HarriersPAUL Wotton says Harriers are in a good place as they prepare for Saturday’s National League trip to Wealdstone. Four points from the Bank Holiday meetings with Southend United and Barrow continued an encouraging response to the opening-day defeat at Hornchurch, with Wotton pleased by the progress of his new-look group. “We’ve had a really solid start,” said the Harriers boss. “Lots of players, you can see them gelling, you can see them getting fitter and more together. “We’re still working really, really hard on the training ground, as we always will do. You can see little signs of it and, so far, so good.” Wotton has also been encouraged by the developing relationships within a squad assembled following considerable change during the summer. “It was pretty much a total rebuild, really, so we need to remember that,” he explained. “I’m really encouraged by the way the group’s getting on, not just on the pitch but off the pitch as well. At the minute, they’re a real honest bunch and they’re working tremendously hard. “It’s a good group and it’s a good feeling about the place. The club feels good.”

Attention now turns to Wealdstone, who also collected four points across the Bank Holiday weekend, including a victory over early leaders Sutton United. Wotton watched the Stones in action against Carlisle United and expects another demanding afternoon against an adaptable side boasting both sharpness and experience. “They’ll be up for it, as always, and they’ll be in good spirits as well, as are we,” he said. “We’ve got to go down there and be us, be exactly what we are, work really, really hard and keep those standards and levels of commitment really high. “There are no easy games in the National League, that’s for sure. This is a tough one, but we’re looking forward to it.” Wotton confirmed that Owen Evans isn't likely to be out of action for too much longer as he manages a foot injury, while Zak Brown trained fully towards the back end of the week after his own absence. Kick off at Wealdstone is at 3:00pm on Saturday.

Amari Morgan-Smith's 90th minute winner earned Harriers a much needed 1-0 win over Wealdstone in the National League back in 2023 - the Reds' first home win of the campaign. The Stones visited DY10 in 2025-26, too, to knock Harriers out of the FA Trophy on penalties. National League North Harriers had pushed the National League outfit all the way, but saw their dreams of a Trophy Final dashed with Wembley within touching distance.
