PAUL Wotton says Harriers are ready to embrace another big National League occasion as Hartlepool United head to Aggborough on Friday night. Harriers return home following last weekend's superb 4-1 victory at Wealdstone, extending an encouraging run of form ahead of the visit of Pools. Wotton is looking forward to a night under the Aggborough lights and knows his side will face a stern examination against experienced opposition. “Looking forward to it. Big club coming down,” said the Harriers boss. “This is the sort of game that the club wanted to get promoted for, so we embrace it, we look forward to it. “They had a good result on Saturday as well, so they're coming down here looking forward to it, I'm sure. But yeah, Friday night, under lights at home, all to play for.” On Hartlepool, he added: “Well, I expect the manager's experience. He's managed in the Football League a lot. They've got threats. We know where their threats are, but we've got threats as well. "It's going to be one of those games that's a 'National League' game. They're all tough. It's a tough league. I'm learning that every game we play. It's not getting any easier, that's for sure. We know we've got a tough test, but we're looking forward to it.” While there is plenty of positivity surrounding Harriers' recent results, Wotton remains determined to ensure standards stay high and that there is no complacency within the group. “I think it's very simple. As soon as you see standards drop on the training pitch or complacency creep in, you remind them that that's not what we're about. “We're not good enough to be complacent. We're not good enough for our standards to come underneath the levels that we've shown over the past five games. I'm not good enough to and we're not good enough to, so it's being humble and knowing that hard work will hopefully get us enough results we need to get to where we want to get to." Harriers will be without the suspended Angus MacDonald on Friday night, as well as the injured Owen Evans, who Wotton suggests may be out for a while yet after it was confirmed he has a "small tear" in a foor injury. The club would like to ask fans to join in with a tribute to former player David McDermott on Friday night. The ex-Aggborough winger died recently aged just 38 - we'd encourage all in attendance to join in a minute's applause at the 38th minute of the match as an act of remembrance to David. Harriers v Pools: The Archive

Harriers and Hartlepool traded blows for a short while in the EFL prior to the Pools' promotion to what is now League 1 in 2003. One of the picks of the bunch was a 3-2 win for the Reds at Aggborough in March 2002. Abdou Sall and Colin Larkin were on the score sheet, as was Dean Bennett whose superb 88th minute finish secured all three points. The teams last met in the 2023-24 National League; a 1-1 draw in DY10 followed by a 1-0 victory for Harriers in the chilly north in January.
