HARRIERS and Barrow shared the Bank Holiday Monday points after a competitive 1-1 draw at Aggborough. Lewis Walker’s third goal in two matches cancelled out Innes Cameron’s opener, while Max Brogan struck the post as Paul Wotton’s side came agonisingly close to completing the turnaround before half-time. Barrow threatened inside the opening minutes when Oliver Crankshaw evaded a number of challenges and made his way forward, but his eventual effort sailed comfortably over Jack Wint’s goal. The visitors continued to look neat in possession and Keaton Ward was given a sight of goal after 11 minutes, shooting across the target and forcing Wint into a save. Barrow took the lead five minutes later. Harriers conceded a free-kick and Cameron found space to meet the delivery, heading home unmarked to make it 1-0. Wotton’s men worked their way back into the contest and drew level two minutes before the interval with an excellent move. Reece Devine produced an outstanding burst forward and stretched to hook a deep cross back into the danger area, where Walker stooped to head beyond Ben Winterbottom.

Harriers almost had a stunning lead just moments later in first-half stoppage time. With Barrow penned in, Brogan weaved his way into the penalty area and struck from an angle, beating Winterbottom but seeing his effort crash against the upright. Richard Faakye advanced well three minutes after the restart and found Walker on the edge of the area. The striker was unable to connect cleanly on this occasion, with his shot dragging wide. Brogan tried his luck from distance after 61 minutes but sent his effort off target. Seconds later, Ethan Moore and Stewart combined before the latter cut a shot across goal which Winterbottom turned aside. Barrow created a spell of pressure five minutes later. Danny Amos drove through a crowd of bodies and forced Wint to turn the ball around his post, before the goalkeeper saved a header from the resulting corner and a further attempt was cleared off the line. Richard Faakye recovered well to race back and deny Barrow the lead - he dispossessed Alex Reid with a last-ditch interception after the striker raced clear on to a ball over the top. In the end, a draw seemed a fair reflection of the afternoon as Harriers picked up another valuable National League point. Images: Ade Hoskins
